Ready for take-off! Nudge explores slave free products with Tony’s Chocolonely

The three winners of the Nudge Global Leadership Challenge 2015 are preparing themselves for a life-changing experience. With the guidance of Tony’s Chocolonely, reward partner of the 2015 Global Challenge,  Jihad (UAE), Cindy (UAE) and James (Canada) will travel to Ghana and Ivory Coast from 15 May until 21 May 2016 to make a journey along their fair chocolate production chain.

The three Best Global Young Leaders in Sustainability will help Tony’s Chocolonely starting a movement to stimulate multinationals and consumers to choose for honest, slave free products. This is more than necessary, as there are still gross inequalities when it comes to global chocolate trade. This movie from Fortune Magazine shows why it is of the utmost importance  to find a better way. It shows why also big players and consumers should commit to 100% slave-free chocolate.

“For a decade and a half, the big chocolate makers have promised to end child labor in their industry—and have spent tens of millions of dollars in the effort. But as of the latest estimate, 2.1 million West African children still do the dangerous and physically taxing work of harvesting cocoa. What will it take to fix the problem?” – Brian O’Keefe, Fortune Magazine

The seven-days trip of Tony’s Chocolonely, Nudge and the Best Global Young Leaders in Sustainability will help to turn ambitions into reality: spreading the word about slave free products and inspire companies and consumers to act. Let’s start that movement and follow the team on this marvellous journey! Stay tuned via the Nudge Sustainability Hub.
