Awarded to the Challenge participants who created the biggest impact
We want to put the focus on the global impact that our alumni created. They prove they are true leaders in sustainability by successfully implementing their Sustainability Impact Plans. They continuously prove their capabilities to be true agents of change. Through the Nudge Global Impact Awards we congratulate the alumni who managed to create the biggest impact with their plans.
During the Nudge Global Impact Challenge, each participant creates and improves his or her own sustainability impact plan – a plan that has the aim to create environmental or social impact, and the purpose to implement sustainability in the participant’s company, organisation, university, or community. The participants of the Nudge Global Impact Challenge 2019 are now working on the realisation of their impact plans.
All participants of the 2019 Challenge have been nominated for the Nudge Global Impact Award. To measure, monitor and evaluate the impact that the plans of our alumni have created, we have invited our strategic partner, the VU University to design an evaluation framework, designed by Prof. Dr. Philipp Pattberg (Head of the Environmental Policy Analysis Department at the Institute for Environmental Studies) and his team. Based on the Total Impact scores, 6 finalists will be selected. They will be invited to join the Nudge Global Impact Awards night on 22 June 2021 to present the impact they have made with their plan.
Based on the answers from our alumni to multiple questions, three scores are assigned to each impact plan: direct impact, outcome impact and project management. These are all weighted and combined into a Total Impact Score. At the Awards, the jury will choose 3 Winners. Their prize will be an amount of money to be used on a cause of public benefit connected to their impact project.
The Nudge Global Impact Awards night is an integral part of Nudge’s mission to redefine success in business and work on behavioral change. We will connect our 90 talented participants with renowned change makers, an assemblage of CEOs from all over the world and the Nudge Advisory Board.
The Nudge Global Impact Awards 2020 will be handed out to the alumni from the Nudge Global Impact Challenge 2019 AND 2020 for their efforts in realising their Sustainability Impact Plans.
The Nudge Global Impact Awards will take place in the Auditorium of The Peace Palace in The Hague, The Netherlands. It is the seat of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the International Court of Justice, the The Hague Academy of International Law, the Peace Palace Library and Carnegie Foundation. A location with enormous historical value. For more information check the website and watch the videos below.
We would like to congratulate our 2019 Winners, Hamed Beheshti (Boreal Light GmbH, Germany), Tessa Duste (Hrbs. & MOSS, the Netherlands), and Sabrina Cloney (Danone, Ireland).

The execution of the participants’ impact plans will be measured and monitored using the evaluation framework created by the VU Amsterdam, strategic partner of the Nudge Global Impact Challenge. At VU Amsterdam, Prof. Dr. Philipp Pattberg heads the Department of Environmental Policy Analysis (Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences); a team of more than 25 researchers that was evaluated in a 2014 international review as ‘world leading’ and as being ‘one of the highest profile academic research groups involved with sustainability governance from around the world’. We are proud that Prof. Dr. Pattberg and his team have designed the evaluation framework for the Nudge Global Impact Award.
90 Nominees ⇒
All participants of the Nudge Global Impact Challenge 2019 will be nominated for the Nudge Global Impact Award 2020. A nomination questionnaire will be sent to them in May 2020. The basis for the selection process is the evaluation framework created by Prof. Dr. Philipp Pattberg and his team. It will allow our alumni to show the impact they have created with their impact projects.
6 Finalists ⇒
Based on the Total Impact scores, 6 finalists will be selected. They will be invited to join the Nudge Global Impact Awards night, 22 June 2021, the second evening of the Grand Finale experience, to present the impact they have been able to realise.
3 Criteria ⇒
How are the finalists selected? Based on the answers from our alumni to multiple questions, three scores are assigned to each impact plan: direct impact, outcome impact and project management. These are all weighted and combined into a Total Impact Score.
At the Nudge Global Impact Awards night, 22 June 2021, the six finalists will pitch their impact project. The jury will then select three winners. The winners will be announced during an official Awards ceremony that evening.
